My Weight Loss Goal Reward? Disney World!

11 Feb

rollercoaster

One of the most painful memories I have from being overweight is at a fair.  I was about 75 pounds lighter than I am today and was still not able to ride one of the amusement rides.  This after trying to strap myself in and having the operator try to help.

I was so ashamed and embarrassed – people had been watching me struggle and eventually saw me walk away without riding the ride.  It was humiliating.  I wish it had been enough to kick my weight loss in to gear, but it simply wasn’t time yet.  I guess I hadn’t reached my rock bottom, no matter how degrading the experience was.

For a lot of weight loss people, they have a reward in mind.  At Weight Watchers, you get a star online for each milestone you hit in your weight loss journey.  An online star may sound simple – but it’s so exciting when it pops up on your account.  Finally – you’ve reached another goal!

Some of my friends looked forward to being able to shop at their favorite store.  To wear clothes they haven’t worn in years.  To be able to skip shopping in the plus-size sections.

Some wanted to be able to wear a swimsuit without feeling self conscious.

My reward?

I want to go to Disney World.  I want to go on every possible ride they have.  With no worry that I’ll get kicked off.  That is my goal.  And I can’t wait for the day I update this blog … from Disney!  🙂

Good luck! I love Disney….I worked in Disneyland and loved it, but never got to go to World. I would love to go to!

Disney is one of my favorite places – but I haven’t been there in 20 or so years. I’m eager to lose this weight so I can go.

What was it like working at Disney? I imagine it was a lot of fun! 🙂

aw that sounds like a heart breaking experience..sorry that happened to you. But also what a great goal to have! I think a lot of us with a fair amount of weight to lose can relate to those painful and embarrassing experiences.
I worked at Universal Studios when I was in college (ride operator at E.T.) and I actually lost a ton of weight there from all the running around. My little gold star was having to see the tailor every few weeks asking for a smaller uniform..hehehe

I love that – the gold star being the smaller uniform. 🙂 We definitely all have our painful stories to share, don’t we? But the great part is we also have (or will have) great success stories. I’m inspired by yours!

That’s an awesome goal. I remember when I went to Disney World on our honeymoon and I barely fit in to most of the rides. I have been kicked off of rides before. I felt so embarrassed. Now, 125 pounds later, I can ride everything and even walking around is more enjoyable! Keep up the awesome work! You’re doing great!

      You’ve lost 125 pounds? That’s fantastic – great job! You’re an inspiration!
